The Complexity of Multivariate Matching Polynomials

چکیده
We study various versions of the univariate and multivariate matching and rook polynomials. We show that there is most general multivariate matching polynomial, which is, up the some simple substitutions and multiplication with a prefactor, the original multivariate matching polynomial introduced by C. Heilmann and E. Lieb. We follow here a line of investigation which was very successfully pursued over the years by, among others, W. Tutte, B. Bollobas and O. Riordan, and A. Sokal in studying the chromatic and the Tutte polynomial. We show here that evaluating these polynomials over the reals is ]P-hard for all points in R but possibly for an exception set which is semi-algebraic and of dimension strictly less than k. This result is analoguous to the characterization due to F. Jaeger, D. Vertigan and D. Welsh (1990) of the points where the Tutte polynomial is hard to evaluate. Our proof, however, builds mainly on the work by M. Dyer and C. Greenhill (2000).

Deterministic Sampling of Sparse Trigonometric Polynomials
One can recover sparse multivariate trigonometric polynomials from few randomly taken samples with high probability (as shown by Kunis and Rauhut). We give a deterministic sampling of multivariate trigonometric polynomials inspired by Weil’s exponential sum. Our sampling can produce a deterministic matrix satisfying the statistical restricted isometry property, and also nearly optimal Grassmann...
متن کاملOn the computational complexity of finding a minimal basis for the guess and determine attack
Guess-and-determine attack is one of the general attacks on stream ciphers. It is a common cryptanalysis tool for evaluating security of stream ciphers. The effectiveness of this attack is based on the number of unknown bits which will be guessed by the attacker to break the cryptosystem. In this work, we present a relation between the minimum numbers of the guessed bits and uniquely restricted...
متن کاملTrajectory Planning Using High Order Polynomials under Acceleration Constraint
The trajectory planning, which is known as a movement from starting to end point by satisfying the constraints along the path is an essential part of robot motion planning. A common way to create trajectories is to deal with polynomials which have independent coefficients. This paper presents a trajectory formulation as well as a procedure to arrange the suitable trajectories for applications. ...
متن کاملOn Multivariate Chebyshev Polynomials and Spectral Approximations on Triangles
In this paper we describe the use of multivariate Chebyshev polynomials in computing spectral derivations and Clenshaw–Curtis type quadratures. The multivariate Chebyshev polynomials give a spectrally accurate approximation of smooth multivariate functions. In particular we investigate polynomials derived from the A2 root system. We provide analytic formulas for the gradient and integral of A2 ...
متن کاملFast Least Square Matching
Least square matching (LSM) is one of the most accurate image matching methods in photogrammetry and remote sensing. The main disadvantage of the LSM is its high computational complexity due to large size of observation equations. To address this problem, in this paper a novel method, called fast least square matching (FLSM) is being presented. The main idea of the proposed FLSM is decreasing t...
